The project came to us for website hosting migration and technology up-gradations. The client wanted us to migrate the website hosting from GoDaddy to Amazon Cloud to eliminate downtime and wanted to upgrade PHP and WordPress versions to stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends.
The aim of the client was to make the website updated and strong enough to perform well and deliver a better user experience.
Each website is having different functionalities and features. Right from the database, hosting, CMS versions, APIs and plugins, the migration and technology up-gradations has always been a major concern, and this shouldn’t affect the overall visibility of websites that have been built over the past years. Hence migrating a website and upgrading technologies, demands a lot of customization and proper planning.
To begin with the project, first, we had planned out our strategies for technology up-gradation, as a part of which initially we had identified a set of WordPress plugins and APIs which were not compatible with the latest WordPress and PHP versions and might cause a problem after final version upgrades. Accordingly, we had come up with apt solutions and moved ahead with upgrading all the technologies, which also involved a lot of customization to avoid compatibility issues.
For hosting migration, we had setup a development server and then full migration began with transferring the data from multiple virtual machines (VMs) which was running on-premises to AWS Cloud utilizing Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) to manage all the data.
Taking care of smaller to bigger aspects during project execution, our team resulted in efficient hosting migration, successful technology up-gradations, and customizations through the well-organized domain, menu structure, forms, and layout.
